Game Background Story
Set in the year 2135, cricket has evolved into a high-stakes, strategic competition known as Cricket Brawl. The sport has transformed, shifting from its traditional roots into an intense, skill-based battle where only the most adaptable competitors thrive. The game isn’t just about scoring runs anymore; it’s about control, calculated risks, and strategic execution.
Gameplay Mechanics
1. Squad Composition
- Players create a 12-card deck called a Squad.
- Each card shows a cricket player with unique abilities and attributes.
2. Stadium Dynamics
- The match takes place across three stadiums, each with unique conditions that influence gameplay.
- Players must adapt their strategy based on stadium effects and opponent actions.
3. Runs and Scoring
- Cards contribute run values to the team’s total score at a stadium.
- Outscoring your opponent in at least two out of three stadiums by the end of the match ensures victory.
4. Cost System and Economy
- Each card has a cost in millions that must be managed wisely.
- Players start with 1 million in the first turn and gain 1 million per turn, reaching a max of 6 million on the final turn.
5. Balls(Turns) System
- The game consists of six balls (turns) where the players has to play their cards.
- Both players act at the same time, requiring anticipation and strategic planning.
Our Development Journey
Cricket Brawl was created from a love for both cricket and strategy games. Inspired by games like Hearthstone, Smash Up!, and Marvel Snap, we wanted to craft a new kind of cricket experience—one that moves beyond standard batting and bowling mechanics and introduces deeper strategic elements. With Unity as our game engine, we’re ensuring smooth gameplay, optimized performance, and cross-platform support.
Art & Visual Design – Creating a Futuristic Cricket World
Our 3-person art team has been developing a world that feels immersive and engaging. Moving away from traditional designs, we have envisioned a future where cricket is played with futuristic stadiums and fictional players, each with unique abilities that define their playstyle. Using tools like Maya, Blender, and generative AI, we’re crafting a visually distinct world that complements the game’s strategic depth.
One of the most challenging aspects has been designing ability animations that showcase each player’s strengths in a visually impactful way. Seeing these characters come to life has been one of the most rewarding parts of development.
Prototyping and Refining Gameplay
Before going digital, we tested our mechanics using physical cards to fine-tune balance and rules. This hands-on testing helped confirm our ideas and shape Cricket Brawl’s core mechanics, ensuring an engaging and well-balanced game.
